Hello there!
I should keep this journal updated more often but I prefer wasting my time posting silly entries to my Blogger one ^_^
Anyhow, since some people asked me for a tutorial, I think a writing about this matter might be helpful for anybody who follows me on deviantart.

Accept it, I've never made/written any tutorials ^_^ Reasons are the following:

1. I'm too lazy
2. English is not my mother-tongue. Good tutorials are not just a list of photos/images. Images should be connected to a series of instructions. And instructions should lead the reader through the key features of a technique. Obviously they should be written in a good English. I can't organize nothing like that and I don't feel like doing it!
3. There's not any secret in what I do. Unlike me, many of you are art-students or you took art lessons in the past. Honestly, you should teach me how to draw! You just need to spend a little bit of time observing my illustrations to understand 'the secrets'of my technique. Some deviants have copied my style so carefully that I think you can achieve the same goal without any specific tutorials from my part. Of course, I strongly talk you out of merely copying someone else's way of drawing/coloring! It's stupid and fruitless!

Lately, I post almost regularly sketches and drawings to my blog, my facebook page and my flickr gallery. Keep a look there for sneak peeks of new illustrations and WIP!

Yes, finally my illustrations arrived in Stockholm - if you follow my blog you know all the shipment troubles I got in the past days because of the volcano's eruption in Iceland! The girls at Vinca Minor Galler are so nice to arrange a new vernissage just for my paintings - thank you, thank you! So, if you're in Sweden, don't miss the opening in May 7!

SHOW AT VINCA MINOR GALLERY

I have been invited to submit my work to a collective illustrations/comics themed show at Vinca Minor Gallery - Sweden.
The show starts April 25th and it will be advertised at Small Press Expo in Stockholm.
I'm working on illustrations and pages from my latest comic book project: The Cloud Maiden.

That said, some weeks ago I was supposed I could start taking new private ommissions but I will spend the next weeks working on the stuff for the show. So, I have no idea when I'm available again for personal commissions but I will keep you informed about that, anyway!

So, let's starting the 2010 with some amazing news...well, I hope you find them amazing, anyway! First off, I'm one of the contributors of this great Group »

As you have guessed it's a Group for Markers artists, lovers, appreciators. You're all invited to join ... so I can judge your work, ahahahahah! I'm kidding, I'm the worst critic in the world, you know!

And, I will start taking personal commissions again starting end of February! I will give you more info about that, plus rates and general information on next blog entries. Keep a look at my blog too. I usually keep it more updated than my dA journal. I'm sorry I can't start taking new commissions before - sorry for people who contacted me about that -  but actually I'm quite busy working on several illustrations, all commissioned, both personal and commercial. Plus, I'm trying to improve my technique and I'm in a sort of 'transitional' phase that hopefully will end in something new and acceptable, I hope so!

I really hope your 2010 will be no less than amazing!

Merry Christmas, all! I really hope you had/will have a marvelous Christmas! As usual, I don't have so much time to run my deviantArt gallery/blog, I'm the shadow one, you know ^_^

But today I need your help so, here I'm to trouble you with my silly questions! As many of you know, I published my first book of illustration almost a year ago. It was a Limited Edition Print, sold in just few weeks. Many of you couldn't actually get a copy of it and by popular request I think to publish another book of illustrations within the end of 2010 - hopefully before next Summer. I think of self-publishing it and I'm looking for good advices, trips, suggestions from fellow artists who already have tried to print their own art-books by using online services as the ones available on Lulu.com, for example. My main trouble is finding a good print service, obviously not so expensive! Or maybe, union is strength, and I could try to publish a collective art-book together with other illustrators ...

Ok, you have all the Christmas holidays to think about that and give me advices ^_^

I very quick journal entry - I'm still in India, in Varanasi actually and I really have just few minutes by day to check out my online accounts ^__^

That said, Fangedfem and Snowmask thank you very much for the Daily Deviation! I should also thank all the people who commented on my latest deviations, I will come back home in few days so be patient a little bit more for replies!

I had and actually I'm having a great time in India, traveling a lot a visiting so many beautiful places and meeting incredible people...I'll try to update asap blogs and flickr and twitter about that!

Unfortunately, it seems the canvas is lost for ever and ever and no chances to find it or having it back, sigh! Anyway, that motivates me to go on oil painting! At least, it seems I’m quite good at doing it ^_-

As probably some of you know, since the past Autumn, I've started taking some drawing and painting lessons. Well, finally ^_^
Recently, I've been focusing myself on oil painting that I think is just an incredible technique, I love it! In fact, probably my next deviation, in a couple of months or so on, will be an oil on canvas! Anyway, despite the fact oil is the best painting technique I've ever learned in all my life - it seems I'm quite enthusiastic about it, doesn't it? - unfortunately you should wait for 'days' to leave the first layers to dry, before applying more details or layers. That said, I usually leave my canvas and the paintings in progress in the classroom - like all the students actually do. And well, one of my almost completed paintings has been stolen! It's a 'still life' image - not a very interesting subject I know, but my teacher is forced me to paint these themes in order to learn the techniques - and frankly I don't think it's a masterpiece or something. Speaking honestly, I got a lot of compliments for it, but well, you know, it was the second oil painting in all my life and I'm a perfectionist so...I know my next pieces will be definitely better than it. Anyway, I'm so angry about that! I can't understand why people is so stupid to steal a painting made by an art student! Ok, it was a nice piece but well, that's not an excuse!

Argh, if I post stuff online people copy my ideas and style, if I take art lessons, people steal my original pieces...what I have to do? Maybe I should start showing my best illustrations only to friends and relatives...I feel so angry!

Thank you very much for all the nice comments both on my previous blog entry and my gallery on flickr. Instead of replying to anybody, I'm posting another entry to clarify some doubts and answer some questions.

1.       The book was intended to be a limited edition. Only 150 copies were printed for sale. All the copies are sold out. That means we – me and the publisher – do not re-print the book .

2.       'Why did you print only 150 copies?' The book was available to pre-order for almost a month – refer to my previous posts on dA, on wordpress, on myspace and on twitter (links below). The publisher decided the final quantity of printed copies. Sorry to say that, but if you all had pre-ordered more, finally we would printed more copies ^_^ Pre-orders were ok, but not enough to justify a limited edition of 300 or 500 copies. I should add I totally agree with the publisher's choice.

3.       The book was regularly printed in France and it has its own ISBN numbers. It’s not something ‘handmade at home’ as someone has supposed ^_^

4.       The book features both old and new illustrations especially done for this publication. Here a preview of all of them » [link]. The new illustrations will not be included in different art-books, maybe they might be featured in some magazines, in a near future.


I’m sorry for all the people who missed the chance to order a copy of "Precious Things". Actually I have no idea if I will ever publish another art-book. At the moment I’m quite busy working on different art projects, I mean comics for example. Of course, if some publisher is interested in getting in touch with me for a new book well, here I am ^_^
